Sandboxed · Notarized · macOS 13+

Right-click superpowers
for macOS Finder.

FinderPilot adds the actions Finder has been missing. Copy POSIX paths, batch rename, create from template, jump to favorites — all from a single sandboxed extension that stays out of your way.

One-time purchase · Free updates · No subscription

  • Sandboxed. No background daemons. No surprises.
  • Zero telemetry. Diagnostics are local-only and opt-in.
  • App Store ready. Hardened runtime + notarized build.
  • Path redaction. Logs never leak /Users/<name>.

Everything Finder forgot to ship.

Twenty-five carefully designed surfaces. None of them get in your way.

📋

Copy paths, your way

POSIX, file://, Markdown links, or JSON arrays — pick the format you actually need. Multi-selection deepest-common-directory math is built in.

Favorites with global hotkeys

Pin up to 20 folders. Assign ⌥1–⌥9 to your top spots and jump there from any app — sandbox-safe Carbon hot keys, no Accessibility prompt.

📄

New from Template

Drop boilerplate files into the right spot in one click. Custom templates with usage counters; built-in .txt, .md, and .json scaffolds shipped.

🔁

Batch rename

Find/replace, prefix, suffix, counter padding, extension preservation. Live preview catches collisions before they happen.

📦

Compress, decompress, share

One-click .zip / .tar.gz. AirDrop, Mail, Messages, and Notes share targets. Set as Wallpaper. Reveal symlink targets.

🔍

Folder size + SHA-256

Real-time recursive size with cancellation. SHA-256 checksums saved alongside the file or compared between selections.

🖥️

Open in Terminal / iTerm

Drop into the current folder — or its parent — in Terminal or iTerm. Toggle hidden files in Finder without spelunking through defaults.

🔐

Sandboxed access controls

Per-folder security-scoped bookmarks. Stale bookmarks surface as a one-click re-grant. Never accesses files outside what you allowed.

🩺

Diagnostics that respect you

7-day rolling local logs with path redaction on by default. Export a zipped diagnostics bundle when you need to file an issue — never automatic.

Your filesystem is your business.

FinderPilot never makes a network call. There's no analytics SDK, no telemetry pipeline, no remote logger. The only data that ever leaves your Mac is a diagnostics zip you export by hand and choose to share.

Frequently asked

Is this a subscription?

No. FinderPilot is a one-time purchase from the Mac App Store. You own your copy, including every future update.

Does FinderPilot need Accessibility or Full Disk Access?

No to both. FinderPilot is fully sandboxed. It only sees folders you explicitly grant via the standard macOS file picker, and it stores those grants as security-scoped bookmarks scoped to FinderPilot alone.

Does it phone home?

No. There is no networking entitlement on the host app or the extension. Diagnostics are local-only. If you want to share logs with us, you export a zip by hand — nothing leaves your Mac otherwise.

What macOS version do I need?

macOS 13 Ventura or later. We test against the latest macOS release on Apple silicon and Intel.

Why isn't the right-click menu showing up after install?

macOS requires you to enable Finder Sync extensions explicitly. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Extensions → Finder, and tick the box next to FinderPilot. Quit and re-launch Finder, and the FinderPilot submenu appears.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds for Mac App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and request a refund — Apple typically responds within 48 hours.

Is the source code open?

Selected components and our build infrastructure live on GitHub. The full app source is currently closed; we may revisit that as the product matures.

What about the App Store revenue cut?

Apple takes 30% in year one, 15% from year two onward (under their Small Business Program). We chose the App Store for V1 because it gives you trust signals, easy refunds via Apple, and automatic updates — that's worth the cut.
